Spike Lee brings David Burne’s whimsical Broadway show.
It’s impossible to recreate the energy and atmosphere of the film’s performance, but Spike Lee gave it a great performance, bringing one of David Byrne’s American Utopia Broadway shows to the screen. It’s a fascinating amalgam in and of itself – blending narration, dance and performing arts with songs from the title album and a thrilling performance of past glory. By the way, by 11 strong international musicians, Byrne wore a pale gray suit and a button-down shirt, walking barefoot, looking like an office worker lost in the best possible way.
